  BIOGRAPHY

After picking up his first racquet at age 5, he played against his father and 3 older brothers, enjoying the older and tougher competition. At age 19, he embarked upon a Hall of Fame professional career that was highlighted by four trips to Grand Slam finals including 2 US Open titles and 2 Wimbledon plates. Hailed in his native country, he was named the 2002 Australian of the Year.

 
  CAREER HIGHLIGHTS
He achieved the World No. 1 ranking in 1999.
Rafter won two consecutive US Open titles, in 1997 & 1998.
He reached the finals at Wimbledon twice, losing to Sampras in 2000 and Ivanisevic in 2001.
Rafter played for the Australian Davis Cup team from 1994-2001, helping capture the title in 1999.
He was inducted into the Hall of Fame in 2006.
21 career titles - 11 in singles, 10 in doubles.
