  Cancer Treatment Centers Of America Tennis Championships Playing Field Announced

SURPRISE, AZ (May 15, 2009)… The City of Surprise announced today that Mats Wilander, Wayne Ferreira, Mark Philippoussis, Jimmy Arias, Aaron Krickstein and Mikael Pernfors will join Andre Agassi and Jim Courier in the eight player field at the Cancer Treatment Centers of America Tennis Championships, presented by Sanderson Volvo, to be held October 8-11 at the Surprise Recreation Campus Tennis and Racquet Complex.

“We are looking forward to hosting the 2nd annual event and are excited with the quality of tennis coming to Arizona” said Mark A. Coronado, Surprise Community & Recreation Services Director. “Tennis fans will be able to see Tennis GREAT Andre Agassi in his Outback Champions Series Debut”.

Andre Agassi, 61 career titles (8 Grand Slams) and the only player to achieve the “Golden Slam”; Mats Wilander, 40 career titles (8 Grand Slams) and the youngest man in history to win four grand slams by the age of 20; Jim Courier, 29 career titles (4 Grand Slams) and the first American to hold a No. 1 world ranking; Wayne Ferreira, 26 career titles and holds the record for most consecutive Grand Slam appearances; Mark Philippoussis, 14 career titles and formerly ranked No. 8; Jimmy Arias, at age 15 the youngest player to achieve a world ranking, Aaron Krickstein, 9 career titles and the youngest player to reach the world Top 10 at age 17; and Mikael Pernfors with 4 career titles will compete for $150,000 in the eight-man round-robin tournament which is an official tour stop on the Outback Champions Series.

Tickets go on sale Monday, May 18 at 8 a.m. for the second annual Cancer Treatment Centers of America Tennis Championships. Individual session tickets are $45 for gold seating and $35 for silver. Series packages are available and include all five sessions, invitation to a player meet and greet and a 10% savings from individually purchased tickets. The all inclusive food and beverage Outback Champs Club is available for single session upgrades or all five sessions.

Tickets may be purchased at the Surprise Tennis and Racquet Complex, 14469 W. Paradise Lane. They are also available online www/surpriseaz.com/tennis or by calling 800.745.3000. A service charge will be applied to each ticket purchased through Ticketmaster.

Events surrounding the 2009 tournament include a Kick-Off Party / Reception with proceeds benefitting the non-profit organization Assistance in Health Care, a Kids Day where children ages 3-18 will learn drills, games and practice routines with participating champions and a Pro-Am involving amateurs teaming up with stars.
